What would make good reading?

Dear Friends:

First, thanks for all the help you've given me so far.  Things
are starting to take shape, although I will certaintly have to
rely on your kindness again.

However, I was wondering if you might point out any books or
articles which it might be good if I read so I won't have 
to ask too much of you.  I downloaded the icpcihw.hlp file which
apparently lists the registers on the IC-PCI card, but didn't
find this very helpful.  Is there something I could read
which would help me understand this?
